Guys I am very sad to hear the news of the passing of Alan. I have never spoken to Alan and he doesn’t know me, but have admired his playing for many years. I play for Phoenix Brass ( Crewkerne ) and it great to see Alan playing with the various Cornish Bands at many Contests over the years....

Hiya. My husband and I both play for Co op 2000 Brass who are a 2nd Section Band based in Crewe, Cheshire. We were on holiday the week before last and happened to be in Padstow the day you played. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to you (much to our 2 sons disgust as they just wanted to find a beach!!!).
Well done! You sounded fantastic and deserved the big audience you got.
Wishing you much success for the future. :-)

Jean and myself were very saddened to hear today of Alan`s passing. He gave me tremendous support at Bodmin Band in the early eighties and was truly one of brass band`s real gentleman. I well remember him phoning me once from a meeting in Nottingham on a rehearsal night and saying he would be a little late. He was 5 minutes late and must have driven 100 mph flat out to even get there. What`s more he kept apologising for a month afterwards for being late.Such was his dedication. The movement will be much the poorer for the loss of such a wonderful musician and friend.
Our sincere condolences to Joan and the family.
