The Heart of Cornwall Brass Band
A celebration of the Banding Life of Alan Faraway
Raising Money for the British Heart Foundation
Grand Concert

15th January, 2011

St. Petrocs Church, Bodmin
In his own modest way, Alan Faraway spent some 60yrs in the Brass Band world, much of it at the top end of Banding with the Hanwell Band, Bodmin, Kernow, Camborne Bands and the Virtuoso Brass Band. He was though never too proud to help out lower section Bands and so made many friends over the years.

At his funeral, a large number of Bandsmen were left outside due to the numbers attending, and many were disappointed that the movement could not have provided a more musical farewell. And it is to this end that Bandsmen from the many Bands that Alan has played with have volunteered their services to form the Heart of Cornwall Brass Band, and raise money for Alan's Family's chosen charity, The British Heart Foundation.

St. Pinnock, St. Austel, Camborne, St. Dennis, St. Minver are all providing players past and present plus many others. These are being led by notable conductors from the county, each with an in sight into Banding in Cornwall over the last 40 years. Compered as ever by Cornwall's own Philip Hunt the evening promises to be unmissable for all those with a fondness for the Cornish Banding scene.

St. Petrocs church is an ideal venue for this event, being in Bodmin where Alan lived and played for many years, it is also acoustically fine and with the recent improvements to remove pews, it can provide a perfect setting for this occasion.
The Band will be some forty five players strong, playing a variety of Brass classics.

Tickets £7 are available from 01566 782917 and on the door.
